Terms of Service

Version 1 · Last updated August 8, 2026

1. Welcome to HowManyCookies

HowManyCookies.com ("HowManyCookies," "we," "us," or "our") is a US-first beta community for home cooks. The service includes recipes, Recipe Git forks and version history, Kitchen Houses and planning tools, profiles, blogs, forums, activity feeds, galleries, private messages, support tools, and related features.

By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Community Guidelines, and Recipe & Food Safety policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or submit personal information. The service is intended for a general US audience and is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we may suspend the account and remove associated information.

You must provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly report unauthorized access through Customer Service.

3. Beta service

HowManyCookies is in beta. Features may be incomplete, change, move, or occasionally become unavailable. We may correct errors, limit features, or discontinue parts of the service. We will use reasonable care, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every feature will always work exactly as described.

4. Your content and our limited license

You retain ownership of recipes, text, images, comments, and other content you submit. You give HowManyCookies a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, distribute, and technically modify that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, improve, and promote the service. This license ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except where continued retention is reasonably required for backups, legal obligations, security records, or preserved Recipe Git lineage.

You must have the rights needed to submit your content. Do not upload material that violates another person's copyright, privacy, publicity, or other rights.

5. Recipes, forks, and access boundaries

A public recipe may be forked through Recipe Git. A fork is a separate recipe version that preserves its connection to the source and records changes. Forking does not transfer ownership of the original contribution, and users must not remove or falsify the lineage maintained by the service.

Private and restricted recipes keep their configured access boundaries. A user may not bypass those boundaries, republish restricted material without permission, or use a fork to expose content they were not allowed to share.

Recipe labels such as "tested," ratings, dietary tags, allergen notes, times, yields, and temperatures are contributed information, not guarantees from HowManyCookies. See Recipe & Food Safety before cooking or serving a recipe.

6. Community features

Blogs, forums, feeds, galleries, profiles, Kitchen Houses, and messages are places to share and discuss cooking. Follow the Community Guidelines. You are responsible for what you post and for choosing appropriate visibility settings. A private or restricted setting reduces who can access content through the normal service, but no online system can promise absolute secrecy.

7. Moderation and enforcement

We may review reports, limit distribution, remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or terminate accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, secure the service, comply with law, or address harmful conduct. We may preserve relevant records while a report, appeal, security matter, or legal obligation remains open.

8. Third-party links and services

The service may link to third-party websites or use third-party infrastructure. Third parties control their own services and privacy practices. HowManyCookies is not responsible for third-party content, availability, products, or policies.

9. Disclaimers

The service and user-submitted content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by law. HowManyCookies does not warrant the accuracy, safety, completeness, legality, nutritional value, or suitability of user content. Nothing on the service is medical, dietary, legal, or other professional advice.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, HowManyCookies.com and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service or reliance on user content. Any limitation that cannot lawfully apply is limited only to the minimum extent required by law.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that must be brought in court will be brought in a state or federal court with jurisdiction in Nevada, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as the beta changes. The published version will show its effective date. Material changes may also be announced through the service. Questions or account concerns may be submitted through Customer Service.
