Bread Soup Baked

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 onion
  • 1 turnip
  • 1 potatoes, pared
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 head of celery
  • 3 pints water
  • 1 slice of bread, toasted and buttered

Directions

  1. Boil the onion, turnip, potatoes, carrot, and celery in the water until the vegetables are cooked.
  2. Insert the bread into a bowl. Pour the soup over it.

Notes

Tomatoes also make a welcome addition to the soup.
