Ingredients
- 2 slices bread
- Butter
- Vegemite
- Sliced cheese (optional)
- Sliced onion (optional)
Directions
- Toast the bread slices.
- Spread butter thickly and evenly on bread.
- Spread Vegemite a little less thickly, and evenly on bread.
- Add cheese and onion.
Notes
Add avocado for an avocado and Vegemite sandwich.
Another variation is to not use butter during the creation and have just the Vegemite and bread.
Yet another variation is to spread Vegemite and then place sliced onions and a slice of cheese on toast and then place under a broiler or toaster to melt the cheese.
Some consumers assert that white sliced bread will give a superior result.
Staples of school lunches, particularly from the Tuck Shop or school canteen, are Vegemite and Lettuce and Vegemite and Cheese Sandwiches. In each case, it's simply a standard Vegemite Sandwich with an additional ingredient added.
