A recipe book that remembers what changed
HowManyCookies is not just another recipe site. It is a shared kitchen for finding and sharing recipes, learning why changes work, and talking through the results in blogs, forums, and community feeds.
Save the version you love, fork it when you change it, and keep every useful improvement connected to where it began.
How recipe forks work
A fork is a new recipe version with a family tree. It lets you adapt a recipe without scribbling over the original or losing the reason for the change.
1. Save the starting point
Keep the ingredients, directions, notes, and version history together.
2. Fork your variation
Change an ingredient, technique, or timing and record exactly what you did.
3. Compare the branches
Follow the lineage, review the differences, and decide which ideas belong in your kitchen.
First batch on the bench: Snickerdoodles
Our opening Recipe Git story begins with a classic snickerdoodle and follows its first fork into a cream-of-tartar-free version. Both recipes will keep their shared history, and neither will be marked tested until somebody actually bakes it.
Yield: Unknown. A tiny mystery for the Test Kitchen to solve.
The recipe and its first fork are being prepared in an upcoming content wave.
Plan the whole kitchen
Keep promising recipes on your Bench, build menus, place them on a calendar, and turn the plan into a shopping list. Kitchen Houses give cooking partners a shared place to organize the work.
Recipes are only the beginning
HowManyCookies is also a place to discuss, teach, learn, and share what happened after the recipe left the screen and entered a real kitchen.
